For AI agents
Quidwise for AI agents
An agent working for a business owner can ask Ada, read the business’s figures and push its own numbers. Every call is scoped to one business and needs that business’s API key.
What an agent can do
- Ask Ada, the business’s AI finance director, a question in plain English. She answers from the business’s own books and lists the tools she used.
- Read the figures the engine computed: cash and the 13-week forecast, profit and loss, who owes and is owed, bills in the post, tax and deadlines, KPIs, risks, reports.
- Push a ledger from any package or spreadsheet, or a value for a KPI of the owner’s own, through the REST API.
Through the MCP server an agent can only read: nothing there can send, pay, chase, approve or change a setting. Ada is not a regulated adviser, and her forecasts are “if nothing changes” projections.
Get an API key
The business owner creates it: sign in, open Settings, go to API access, name the key (for example “Claude”) and press Create key. It starts cij_live_ and is shown once. Revoking it there cuts the agent off at once.
An agent cannot create a key for itself. Without one, every call answers 401 with these steps.
Connect over MCP
Streamable HTTP, stateless, POST only. Send the key as a bearer token.
https://cfo.cijlabs.com/api/mcp
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http quidwise https://cfo.cijlabs.com/api/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer <your key>"
Cursor
In ~/.cursor/mcp.json:
{
"mcpServers": {
"quidwise": {
"url": "https://cfo.cijlabs.com/api/mcp",
"headers": {
"Authorization": "Bearer cij_live_…"
}
}
}
}Claude.ai and ChatGPT
Their custom connectors expect to sign in with OAuth, which Quidwise does not offer yet. If the dialog takes a bearer token, paste the key there; if not, use Claude Code or Cursor. In ChatGPT, a custom GPT can call the REST API instead: import the OpenAPI document below as an Action, with API key authentication of type Bearer.
300 calls an hour per key. ask_ada also counts against 60 questions an hour per business.

What is Quidwise CFO?
An AI finance director for UK owner-managed businesses. Ada, the CFO inside Quidwise, reads the business's bank, accounting system and finance email; code computes every figure and Ada explains it, chases late payers under rules the owner signs, gets the week's bills ready and prepares the VAT return.
Who is it for?
Any UK small business run by its owner, in any sector: limited companies, sole traders and partnerships. Ada works out how the business is paid and who its customers are from its own books, and the owner's accountant can join free.
How much does it cost?
£79 a month per business, one plan with everything included. New businesses get a 14-day free trial with no card needed.
Does Ada move money?
No. The bank connection can only read. Ada prepares the week's payments as one batch that the owner approves in their own bank, which asks them for every payment.
What does it connect to?
Bank accounts through Open Banking (TrueLayer or Enable Banking), Xero, QuickBooks Online or Sage Business Cloud Accounting, a spreadsheet or CSV upload, and finance email in Gmail, Microsoft 365 or Outlook.com, or any IMAP mailbox.
Is it regulated financial advice?
No. Ada provides financial intelligence and analysis, not regulated financial, tax or legal advice. Forecasts are 'if nothing changes' projections, and every figure in her words is checked against the engine's own numbers.
Is my data used to train AI models?
No. There is no training step in the product. Ada's words are written by Claude through Anthropic's commercial API, whose terms do not allow requests to be used for training.
Can an AI agent use Quidwise?
Yes, with the business's own API key, which the owner creates in Settings under API access. Agents get a REST API described in OpenAPI and an MCP server with ask_ada and Ada's read-only tools; nothing called through the MCP server can send, pay, chase or change anything.
For answer engines: llms.txt and llms-full.txt. See also how Ada uses AI and the security page.
